Access Statement for Stilegate Bed & Breakfast

Introduction

We aim to cater for the needs of the visitor in our home-based three-bedroom bed and breakfast. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help.

Pre-Arrival

· There is a bus stop situated approximately ¼ mile away on main A39.

· The main train station is 30 minutes away by car, or roughly 15 miles, at Taunton.

· Local Taxi services have accessible Taxi’s if required. We can make a booking for you.

· We have a web site and can accept on line bookings.

· You can contact us by telephone or email. We also invite you to inspect the accommodation prior to arrival, if you are in the area, to check suitability.

Arrival and Car Parking

· On arrival at the property there is a 5 bar gate across the entrance driveway which is open 24 hours when the B&B is operating.

· No marked bays, but there is ample room for cars. If you are allocated the ground floor room please park in front of the left garage door, nearest the entrance.

· The surface is mainly level with a slight incline to the ground floor room separate entrance.

· We can assist guests with luggage.

· The village shop is next to the B&B.

Main Entrance & Reception

· The front door has one step approximately 15cm high with another small lip of 5 cm into the porch. We have a temporary ramp available if requested. There is a horizontal grab rail next to the step on the right hand side.

· The front door is 170cm wide and the hallway is 210cm x 310cm with one seat provided. The hallway is tiled with a rug.

Public Areas (Internal)

· No WC is available as bedrooms are en-suite.

· The breakfast room, lounge and one bedroom are on the ground floor.

· The stairs are wooden with a banister and are 19cm high, 26cm deep and 85cm wide.

· There are 7 stairs to a landing followed by 7 further stairs to the first floor bedrooms.

· Stairs and corridors are well lit.

· Dog water bowl and feeding bowl are available upon request.

· Guest lounge with oak flooring, T.V. with teletext, and woodburning stove.

Dining Room

· Breakfast is served in the dining room on the ground floor.

· Furniture is flexible and can be moved upon request.

· Tables of a different height are displayed and some dining chairs have arms and some not.

· Menus are provided in larger print.

Ground Floor Bedroom

· Independent access into tiled corridor initially before entering bedroom. Corridor is 147 cm wide.

· Horizontal grab rail outside entrance door.

· Door widths (external, bathroom and bedroom) 82cm wide.

· Bed 56 cm high but can be raised on blocks.

· Illuminated light switch and smoke detector.

· T.V. on wall with remote control and teletext.

· En-suite shower room and with wet floor shower and emergency pull cord.

· Cordless kettle.

· One upright chair provided.

· Fitted short pile carpet on floor.

· Wardrobe width 82cm with clothes rail at 130 cm.

· Lights controllable from the bed.

· French door width 117 cm with step down to patio.

First floor bedroom

· Door width (main and bathroom) is 73 cm wide.

· Twin bedded room, beds being 58 cm high with a minimum space of 50 cm around the beds.

· Wardrobe width is 115 cm and a worktop with drawers is 79 cm high.

· Remote controlled lighting with dimmer switch.

· Remote control T.V. with teletext.

· En-suite bath with Mira Event shower over bath. Grab rails inside bath. Bath height is 50cm and length is 175 cm.

· Wash basin is rounded at the front and is 75 cm high.

· Toilet is 42 cm high.

First floor double bedroom

· Door width is 71 cm opening inwards. Bathroom door is 68 cm opening outwards.

· Wardrobe width is 124 cm

· Double bed height is 58 cm with a minimum of 40cm space around the bed.

· Glass topped work top is 75 cm high with drawers beneath.

· En-suite shower room with 30 cm step into shower cubicle.

· Toilet 43 cm high.

· Sink is 79 cm high.

· Remote control T.V. with teletext.

Grounds and Gardens

· We have a garden for residents to enjoy with a ramp onto the patio area and a gazebo.

· The Quantock Hills are about ½ mile from the Bed & Breakfast where a National Trust route is offered for wheelchair users, through the woods.

· Information is available on local walks and tours.

· External lighting is provided on the entrance driveway and patio areas at night.

There are no leisure, laundry or conference facilities provided at the B&B.
